This 5 day beginners walking course is ideal if you have little or no experience of mountain walking but want to get started. We`ll cover all the essentials you need to start mountain walking in Britain and Ireland as well as enjoying 5 outdoor days in Snowdonia.
We'll look at clothing, equipment, hazards, route planning and essential navigation skills, as well as attempting different mountain routes with different characteristics to give you a a great start to your mountain walking adventures.
Over 5 days you will have time to learn and practice the techniques and skills needed for traveling safely in the mountains of Britain and Ireland.
The early part of the week will concentrate on instruction, with the emphasis moving over to you doing the route planning and navigation as the week progresses. After a week of mountains, memories and exercise, you'll have the confidence to head out on your own as well as some of Snowdonia's mountain summits to your name.

Outline of the week
This can vary depending on the weather conditions experienced, which in itself forms part of the course.
Day 1 - A mountain day. Looking at preparation necessary for heading out into the hills, clothing and equipment required as well as movement on different types of mountain terrain
Day 2 - A navigation day establishing the essential skills and techniques as well as looking at the impact of the weather
Day 3 - A navigation day building on day 2 and ending with route planning for the following day together with looking at emergency procedures
Day 4 - Getting to the top of our chosen mountain objective, with you navigating through the day in whatever conditions we face
Day 5 - With four days experience, knowledge and practice behind you, today is a chance to consolidate everything learnt so far in getting to the top of our chosen mountain objective

From £410 per person including 5 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, based on 2 people sharing or from £485 per single person
From £385 per person including 5 nights accommodation on a self catering basis, based on 2 people sharing
This course includes all instruction and guiding by a qualified mountain leader and first aider. The course operates on a maximum ratio of 6 clients to 1 instructor, to ensure appropriate focus for each individual.
