Beginners Navigation Course
If you`ve done some hillwalking but don't feel confident navigating or you haven't navigated at all, this two day beginners navigation course in Snowdonia will give you plenty of practice and a great start.
We assume you have no prior navigation knowledge and so start with the basics.
You'll spend two days in the hills learning and practising a variety of navigation skills, including; reading the map, map orientation and interpretation, compass use, navigation techniques, following a bearing, navigation strategies and more.
This will give you the knowledge and confidence to navigate your own walks into the hills. The course is run in a relaxed style to maximise your learning and enjoyment and you'll have plenty of opportunity to practice over the 2 days.
Course Outline
• Maps, different types, scales and symbols
• Grid References, how we give them and how they are used
• Taking and following compass bearings
• Reading the map
• Relating the ground around you to the map
• Using a variety of techniques and strategies to get from A to B
• What to do when you get lost
• Doing lots of navigating!
Course Price
£110 per person for the course only
From £170 per person including 2 nights accommodation on a bed and breakfast basis, based on 2 people sharing, also available with single supplement from £190 per person
From £150 per person including 2 nights accommodation on a self catering basis, based on 2 people sharing
This includes all instruction, assessment and guiding by a qualified mountain leader and first aider and the course operates on a maximum ratio of 6 clients to 1 instructor , to ensure appropriate focus for each client

Previous Experience/Fitness Required
No prior navigation knowledge or experience is required, but mountain walking experience is desirable.
